hemlock is the "phone-fi" bedroom folk project of swamp-raised, Chicago-based musician and artist Carolina Chauffe, erring on the side of the imperfect, eager, prolific.
Their songs are often accompanied by intimate voicemails, field recordings, and found sounds. A bare-boned and bittersweet sonic archive, this is means-to-an-end modern-day folk art for the open-hearted. A practice of gratitude to the here & now. An ongoing effort to honor the magic in the mundane.
Their monthly radio show, Pothole Hotline, will showcase the songs of current inspirations and long-time influences -- underground underdogs, local legends, Louisiana homestate heroes, DIY beacons, forever-favorites, among others somewhere in-between. The soundtracks of solo tours and household chores and daydreams come true, etc.
